This is my Renaissance Mind Map:
I'll give myself a B due to my amount of well organized information, helping pictures, and Venn Diagrams but a lack of colors and pictures.
Well Organized- I met this criteria because I great subtitles each will alot of neat color-coded information. I could've done better with the spacing of the information though.
Appropriate Title, Name- I met this criteria because there is only one title I could write which is The "Renaissance". My name is on the back of the poster.
Use of Other Graphic Organizers, Symbolism, Metaphors or Analogies to Convey a Depth of Understanding- I half met this criteria because even though I had color-coding, pictures, connections, and Venn Diagrams, I missed out on Metaphors and Analogies.
Show a Variety of Connections- I met this criteria because for every subtitle I had at least one connection to modern day color-coded in red pen.
Use of Own Words to Make Meaning- I half met this criteria because my wording wasn't the most interesting. I copied my notes directly on to my web, but I had made my own notes while watching the films.
Visual Images that Enhance and Support Textual Meaning- I didn't meet this criteria because I only had about one image per subtitle. Also none of my pictures were colored (which was irrelevant except for the clothing portion). My pictures were cleverly chosen and easy to draw. You couldn't tell what I was talking about from just my pictures.
What I Learned/ What I'm Most Proud of- I learned if you write neatly with subtitles and add color-coding it appears that you worked alot harder than without. I'm most proud my clever use of color coding (different colors for different centuries of the Renaissance. Overall it was a fun project and I was proud of myself!
Welcome to the magical Monday morning. This is for school purposes and all posts here are related to education

It is a place we have all been to,
a place that everyone love,
a place that needs time and effort to get to,
but you will forget any negative things you have been through,
a place with no fear,
quick and come here,
this is the place without sadness
and people call it happiness.

Renaissance project
I would give myself a B or an A
Well organized- I met this criteria because I color coded
different sections and I used larger and smaller text size. It is also not
crowded, spaced well and I put a legend.
Appropriate title- I met this criteria because I used “Renaissance”
as my title.
Use of other graphic organizers, symbolism, metaphors or
analogies to convey a depth of understanding- I met this criteria because I used
a ven diagram and I put lots of pictures.
Show variety of connections- I did not fully meet this
criteria because I dint use different lines but I did color code my lines and
most lines were straight.
Use of own words to make meaning- I met this criteria
because I did not use full sentences and I mainly used my own words that make
sense to me and other people.
Visual images and diagrams that enhance and support textual meaning-
I met this criteria because I used pictures. I used lots of pictures and they
all matched the text.
What I learned and what I am proud of:
I learned how to organize my notes and I also learned how to
create good graphic organizers. This will help me in the future by being able
to use organize my notes and make a really good graphic organizer.
I am most proud of the way I was able to make a really
organized poster and of how I did the project way better than the religion project.
I am very proud of how well I did the renaissance project and the project was
way harder than the religion project.

I get on the ride along with many others,
I could talk to people as if I wasn't a bother.
The ride begins with a sudden shaky start
and then shoots forward like a flying dart.
The cart starts climbing the slope.
Slow, arduous and frightening.
And you start to hope and to wish,
I want to go back to the beginning!
The rollercoaster has many bumps and turns!
Then the ride starts to go slow.
Now it's done and you start to get out.
Now I'll start to wait for a new ride to sprout.
I could talk to people as if I wasn't a bother.
The ride begins with a sudden shaky start

I can get this done
Due in 2 days, and I am tired
Your common sense says
just do it, you can do it
you try to research on google
but your friend texts you.
two hours later, you are somehow skyping them and discussing ice cream
this is the power
this is the temptation
you then realize you failed that course.
Religion Poster: (Sorry it is upside-down for some reason...)
Purpose: Practicing our presentation skills while learning to demonstrate appropriate visuals. Since I did the project individually, it also practices my individual skills.
2 Stars: 1. I think I did pretty good notes and visuals on my poster. I translated complicated notes from Wikipedia in simpler words so my classmates and I would understand.
2. I had great time management as it only look me an hour at home to finish this project. I also created a web at school to speed up my progress at home so I already knew what to do.
1 Wish: 1. There was a lot I needed to work on. In terms of the poster, I needed more and (colorful) visuals and bigger lettering. My poster wasn't attractive at all. In terms of presentation skills, I did very poorly, especially since it was everyone's first time presenting this year. I needed to practice pronouncing words correctly and facing the audience when I talk. I'm still happy with this project.

_____________
It is like a crystal stream,
Always moving, always flowing.
Slipping through your fingers, it cannot be grasped.
Unable to contain,
Impossible to be stopped.
Following you like a shadow,
It inhabits every corner.
Counting like a steady clock.
Everything relies on it,
Everything dies of it.
Tearing down houses, trees.
Ripping mountains and steel beams.
It pushes you onwards,
But you cannot push back.
Sometimes seeming to pass
Slowly, then quickly.
Sometimes seeming to be frozen,
But it isn't.
Still flowing, still moving, still steady
___ cannot be stopped.
Renaissance / Religion Poster Reflection
Religion Poster:
Religion Poster:
2 Stars:
1: I used different colors to highlight the main
ideas. I also keep the information simple but easy to understand. For example, I
didn’t add extra information that wasn’t needed. The picture also showed
clearly of what it means.
2: I organized the topic pretty well. This made
everything easier to follow. For instance, the information is all under the
main topic and not spreading around.
1 Wish:
I could have add
some more information for its introduction. There are space on the top right
corner which I should have use it.
Renaissance
I’ll give myself an
B+ or an A.
Well organized- I
met this criteria because I highlight the main idea by using larger text and my
spacing is not crowded.
Appropriate title,
name – I met this criteria because I use “Renaissance” as my title and write my
name on the back of the poster.
use of other graphic organizers, symbolism. metaphors or
analogies to convey a depth of understanding- I met this criteria because I used
multiple Fishbone to compare and I also use a symbol of a finix bird as a
metaphor of “rebirth”.
Show a variety of connections- I did not
met this criteria because I didn’t use different types of lines. However, I use
straight lines so it’s easy to follow .
use of own words to make meaning – I kind
of met this criteria because I use some full sentences but most of it are
simple words.
Visual images and diagrams that enhance
and support textual meaning – I met this
criteria because I used a paint palette to represent art, music
notes for music, gear, planets and beakers for invention and science, book ,
money and clothes for everyday life.
What I learned / Which I’m most proud of :
I learned how to create a good graphic
organizer and how to organize my notes. This will help me in the future, I’ll
be able to use it to study and present.
I am most proud of the renaissance
project, because it needs both visual and words but the religion is most
pictures. The renaissance project is way harder and I am proud that I am able
to accomplish it.

A hospital
is a white shell on the beach
Bleached
bare and lodged in sand
The ocean
washes over itIt sometimes buries it
But a hospital remains unmoved by this
Whatever changes could occur already have
Any color it might have had has washed away
Or been ground in sand
It shines in the sun but people walk around it
They sense they should not touch it
They should not pick it up and add it to their collection
But it shall no one wants to own it
They want to leave it
Religeon Project
2 stars
I did not
use very many words because this was just a visual aid my pictures were a good
size.
I did fine line
the important pictures so that they were easier to see.

Description Poem
A treasure sealed
by two sheets of leather,
tales of many, told
with only letters.
Demanding ones mind
to open its eyes,
for being able to hold such beauty,
should not bring demise.
Spells bounding us by paper
with types of many kind,
some are malicious and gripping,
while others require peace in mind.
Like a song with a melody,
It flows so softly.

Reflection
Shinto Religion Poster
Purpose: To practice our our oral speaking skills for when present the poster. It also helps us exercise our visual aid representation( example: using pictures/images, key notes and ideas, structure). Since some of us went into pairs or small groups, it it's also helping us build our collaboration skills with our peers.
2 Stars
1. Our( Jenny and I) information was simple but easy for others to understand.For example we didn't go into anything too complex or have extra information that wasn't needed. Wee kept them short because of space management and using pictures instead of words
\
2. We put each one into specific categories and organized our topics pretty well. It made everything easier to read and follow. We also divided things into sub-topics(ex. Code of conduct into ten precepts of Shinto)
1 Wish
We could have thought more about our placement and spacing of certain info. So that it doesn't look so clumped together, Because some of the pictures in the "Ten Precepts of Shinto" was cutting into the shrine picture that we drew, overlapping some of the parts. So when could have planned out our spacing better so that things don't look packed together
Renaissance Poster
Purpose: Create a graphic organizer for all the notes that we took on the Renaissance visually on the poster. To show how much we learned about the Renaissance and learn how to create an effective graphic organizer( eg. include other graphs, colour code, link notes , create topics and sub-topics)
Crieteria:
- well-organized - there is consistency in use of colours, symbols/shapes. “fonts”, white space (not too crowded or illegible)
Yes, because I colour coded my work and used a legend to help people foloow each arrow or coloured line. I was able to keep a good spacing between each so that it doesn't look too crowded around each topic area.
- appropriate title, name
I named it "Renaissance" because it made sense. We were studying the Renaissance so it would make sense to name my poster something that is aboutthe Renaissance. I also wrote my name on the top corner of the paper.
- use of other graphic organizers, symbolism. metaphors or analogies to convey a depth of understanding
I used charts, a fish-bone and a Venn diagram to show more learning. I also used the lotus flowers that surrounds my title as another way of learning( lotus in flower language means to be reborn or rebirth)
- to show a variety of connections (there should be consistency and meaning behind types of lines- eg. thickness, colour, dotted or solid,...)
- use of connecting phrases or words on the lines to aid in understanding
I find that my lines were not as neat as I wanted them to be, some I had to fix and others I had to change the placement so that the arrows aren't clumped together, it was so I could separate them.
However, the lines have been able to work out in the end
- use of own words to make meaning
Yes. I met this because many of my notes, are in note form. There are some that are in small sentences(eg. Leonardo Da Vinci's bio)
But the majorty of them are in note form
- visual images and diagrams that enhance and support textual meaning
Yes for many of the sub-topics I used pictures to represent each one. For example: in the "Arts" section, I represented painting and art as a splatter of paint. Music, I used a music note and for Literature I used a quill and paper.
- a legend
Yes I put a legend at the bottom right corner
OVERALL: Based off of these criteria I'd have to give myself an A-
WHAT I LEARNED THE MOST
What I learned how to create a graphic organizer, through all the samples that were available on the white board and the criteria on the blog. I learned that using a graphic organizer for big topics like this one for example is a great way to show how much you learn without having to write something like an essay.
WHAT I'M MOST PROUD OF
I'm most proud of, is the growth between each graphic organizers. You see the improvement because now I have more knowledge on how to create one. I can see the improvement from the first time. Though it was a lot of info, I was able to get it done and through all of this. I'm quite happy with what I was able to accomplish.

Religion and Renaissance Posters Reflections
Religion Posters - Shinto
The Purpose;
is to excerise our research skills, note-making and visual represention (e.x. images, key words, graphic organizing.). It also demonstrates our ability to collaborate, manage our priorities, and presenting using a visual aid.
1st Star ~
I feel that we used alot of visual aids in this poster, such as
illustrating the 10 concepts. It makes the poster look eye-catching and
easier to read (compared to writing).
2nd Star ~ I
think another thing we did well was organizing the information. An
example of this is the Shinto Teachings which we did in the format of
the main idea first, and then the sub-idea followed by details.
Therefore, it was easy to follow and understand.
1 wish ~ I
wished we could've out a bit more information, because in some places
it is a bit scarce (e.x. in the Belief sector). More information
would've lengthened the presentation and made some parts more detailed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Renaissance
The Purpose:
The purpose f this is to organize alot of information(because the Renaissance is a vague topic) and to organize all of it visually and colour code it for easy access. another purpose is to use graphic organizers and to show a 'variety of connections'.
I'd say I would give myself an A- or an A, because of the criteria I met;
- well-organized - there is consistency in use of colours, symbols/shapes. “fonts”, white space (not too crowded or illegible) ~ I met this criteria because I colour-coded my work and used rounded boxes for main ideas and boxes for details.
- appropriate title, name ~ met this criteria because I put The Renaissance as the title and wrote my name at the corner of the page.
- use of other graphic organizers, symbolism. metaphors or analogies to convey a depth of understanding ~ I met this criteria because I used a Venn Diagram,and a Fishbone. I also used the butterfly as a metaphor because it transforms from a caterpillar to a butterfly, which signals change.
- to
show a variety of connections (there should be consistency and meaning
behind types of lines- eg. thickness, colour, dotted or solid,...)
- use of connecting phrases or words on the lines to aid in understanding
~ I did not do a good job on this one because I only did the chain-link line to represent connections, but I didn't put words on the lines to specify.
- use of connecting phrases or words on the lines to aid in understanding
- use of own words to make meaning
~ I met this criteria because I put my words in note form instead of sentences. - visual images and diagrams that enhance and support textual meaning ~
I used some visual images for Culture, and some for Everyday Life (e.g.
a crown to represent royalty, a paint palette for art, etc.)
- a legend ~ I put a legend on the side of the page.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What I Learned & Which I am Most Proud of
~
What I Learned
I
learned to create good graphic organizers and to organize information
correctly, Those 2 projects were topics that covered a large area of
information so it was necessary to organize the info clearly or else no
one would be able to read it. Knowing how to create graphic organizers
are also beneficial in the future, because I will be able to study,
present, and do other projects with it.
Which I am Most Proud of
Of
the 2, I am most proud of my Renaissance one because I thought I
wouldn't be able to do it at first. It seemed like such a big and vague
topic, and it was hard deciding where to start first. However, I pulled
it off and it was better that I expected.

Self assessment
Renaissance Poster Self Assessment:
I think I deserve an A on this project. This is because I did all of the things that made the poster worthy of being A level. I colour coded it, I had a legend, I have easily distinguishable categories (main ideas, sub ideas), and I have put all the parts that I feel are most important for the Renaissance.
Religion Poster Reflect and Review:
2 stars: My visuals were very large and my visuals were also very neat
1 wish: I wish that I had previously thought to put more pictures. I would do this because obviously on the picture of my Religion poster there is a lot of empty white space. I think I could've utilized it better than how I actually did.
What I learned:
I learned that if you start earlier on these kinds of things that the outcome will obviously look way better. Both of these I kind of rushed on so I didn't put out my 100 percent but I did work very hard on it the hours that I did work on it. I'm most proud of my visuals because I like to think that my visuals look nice because in my eyes they do look nice!

Tips for Presenting a Speech
Tips, hints, do's and do not's.
This is a link that I found on giving/presenting a speech.
The tips and hints are more for when presenting to a classroom audience but none the less it can be used in more general speeches as well.
It has a lot of helpful tips on posture, the way you talk and where you should change the tone of voice.
